Check out the Google home page today, and you’ll see a poignant message from an Army daughter to her dad.

The artwork, by Sparta, Wisc., high-schooler Sabrina Brady, was announced Wednesday as this year’s winner of the Doodle 4 Google art competition. The theme for this year’s competition was “My Best Day Ever …” Brady’s piece, titled “Coming Home” and featuring a young girl running across the page before being reunited with a man dressed in Army fatigues, beat out more than 130,000 submissions.

“When I was 10 years old, my dad came home from war,” Brady wrote in describing her work for the competition. “This was my best day ever.”

Her dad is Master Sgt. Bryce Brady, an Army reservist. He was serving an 18-month deployment to Iraq when his daughter turned 10.

As winner of Google’s national art competition, Sabrina will receive a $30,000 scholarship to the school of her choice. Sparta High School, from which Sabrina is graduating, will receive a $50,000 technology grant.
