Us versus Them?

wars of thoughts and beliefs
dueling ideologies
at arms length distance
ours versus theirs
so much death and devastation
when perceptions of reality do clash
untold destruction
spawned by mere thoughts
then translated into deeds
us versus them
can it be that simple?
a zero-sum game
with such deadly consequences?
