A Call for Dialogue with the Opponents of Lethal Autonomous Weapon Systems

Lethal autonomous weapons systems (LAWS) may be critical to twenty-first century warfare development. However, academics and the Silicon Valley industrial base are reluctant to develop weaponized artificial intelligence because of its potential to perform unethically and/or to grow beyond human control. The author argues in favor of LAWS development in order for the United States to remain militarily competitive in the future.
